Sperm Donation
Sperm donation is a modern solution for men who cannot have a biological child with their own sperm and for single women who wish to become mothers. Doğuş IVF Center partners with leading European sperm banks (Cryos, European Sperm Bank, etc.) to provide donor samples matched to the recipient’s phenotype, with full health and genetic screening. The treatment can be performed via intrauterine insemination (IUI) or IVF/ICSI depending on the patient profile.
Who Is Sperm Donation For?
Sperm donation is offered to men with azoospermia where TESA/TESE could not retrieve sperm, men with severe morphological or motility issues, carriers of inherited genetic disorders who do not wish to pass them on, and single women who want to conceive. Surgical sperm retrieval is always considered first; donation is discussed when no usable sperm can be found.
Donor Selection and Quarantine
Donors are men aged 18–40 who pass medical and psychological evaluation, full genetic screening (karyotype, thalassemia, cystic fibrosis) and infectious-disease testing. Donor samples are frozen and quarantined for six months before use; repeat testing must remain negative. The recipient couple matches the donor by hair, eye and skin color, height, blood group and—optionally—education and hobbies.
IUI or IVF With Donor Sperm?
When the female partner has normal ovulation and patent tubes, donor sperm is used in intrauterine insemination (IUI), which is less invasive and lower cost. When the female partner has ovulatory disorders, advanced age or tubal disease, donor sperm is used with IVF/ICSI. The treating physician at Doğuş IVF Center decides based on age, hormonal profile and tubal status.
Legal and Ethical Framework
Sperm donation in Northern Cyprus is legal and anonymous. The child is the legal child of the recipient couple. Medical records are kept confidential under ethics-board procedures, and couples receive comprehensive counselling and consent before treatment.

Do I choose the donor?
You are presented with donor profiles based on your phenotypic and additional preferences and choose from them. The donor’s identity remains confidential.
Will treatment be IUI or IVF?
It depends on the female partner’s age, ovulation and tubal status. Uncomplicated cases are treated with IUI; otherwise IVF/ICSI is used.
Is the baby’s health guaranteed?
Donors undergo comprehensive genetic and infectious-disease screening and samples are quarantined for six months. PGT can add an extra layer of safety.
How long do I stay in Cyprus?
About one week for IUI and 7–10 days for an IVF cycle.
