Surrogacy
Surrogacy is a legal option at Doğuş IVF Center for women whose pregnancy is impossible or life-threatening. Where it is restricted in many countries, surrogacy is performed in Northern Cyprus within a clearly defined legal framework. The embryo is created in the laboratory from the intended parents’ (or, if needed, donor) gametes and transferred to the surrogate’s uterus.
Who Is Surrogacy For?
Women born without a uterus (MRKH syndrome), women whose uterus has been removed (hysterectomy), women with severe untreatable uterine anomalies (Asherman syndrome, advanced adenomyosis), women with life-threatening cardiac, renal or pulmonary disease, those with a history of HELLP or severe pre-eclampsia, and women whose disease (e.g. breast cancer) would worsen during pregnancy can benefit from surrogacy.
Surrogate Requirements
A surrogate must be aged 21–40, have a history of healthy childbirth, pass medical and psychological evaluations and complete infection and genetic screening. A detailed contract defines the rights and responsibilities of the surrogate and intended parents.
Treatment Steps
Treatment includes: (1) collecting sperm and eggs from the intended parents or donors; (2) preparing the surrogate’s endometrium with estrogen and progesterone; (3) embryo transfer to the surrogate; (4) first-trimester monitoring; (5) delivery and legal transfer of parental rights. Our medical and legal teams coordinate the entire process.
Legal Framework and Packages
Doğuş IVF Center offers four packages: (1) egg donation + sperm donation + surrogate, (2) egg donation + intended father’s sperm + surrogate, (3) intended mother’s eggs + sperm donation + surrogate, (4) intended parents’ gametes + surrogate. All are performed under Northern Cyprus law and independent legal supervision; we guide the family through post-birth adoption/registration steps.
